I’m the 9th child in my family—Geri, my little sister-the 10th. We grew up quite close being the youngest.
We knew the love of our parents and siblings.
We listened to the same records, went to the same schools.
We also became believers in Jesus in a deeper way back when we were both teenagers.
I love her very much!
She’s been married to a fine man and they celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary this year as do Bernadette and I. She’s a mother of 4 and a grandmother as well.
This collection of songs here, I compiled back around 2004, as I recall.
We wrote all the tunes together ~ Geri mainly the lyrics and I, the melodies and music.
All the songs I recorded in my small home studio.
Many of these songs were re-recorded for several of my solo albums and Glass Harp albums as well.
There is so much heart and honesty in these songs! I had hoped this collection could’ve been released years ago, but…here they are for you now!
Here’s a brief rundown of the tunes:
* Hands Of Time—written in the 90s –one of my favorite on this collection! I play 2 tracks of 12 string guitar on this. I love how Geri sings this with me!
* Mountains—written in 1969 and 1st released on the debut Glass Harp album in 1970.
* Carry Me Back— I recorded this song first on the Inseparable album, then a few years later with Geri in my studio. The style is more reggae here than on Inseparable. All for the fun and love of making music with my sis!
* Hope’s Desire—this song, Geri and I wrote both music and lyrics together. We both played acoustic guitars as well, which makes it even more special! On the la-las at the end, you can hear more voices—I recorded our kids and invited a couple of friends to join in.
The song speaks of pain in this world but then there is the great Hope we all long for coming into view!
* My Unspoken Words—one of those songs I forgot was written—then when I hear it, I go, Wow- This really feels good! It has a bit of a Bruce Cockburn feel, I think. I’ve always felt that Bruce is a remarkable and gifted artist/songwriter!
* Ask Me To Dance— Simple and sweet. I first recorded this for my indie CD called Special Occasions, but here I sing it with Geri… (seems like all my CDs are indie now)
The horns are a bit cheezy (my midi guitar back then)—but some folks like cheese.
* Tender Love—this song is really special to me! Geri wrote the words and the music just fell into place. This song as well as “My Unspoken Words” both appeared on my 1998 self titled album. It also appears on Glass Harp with Strings Attached-live album
* Beneath Your Wings—this song is all about being filled with grace, hope and love! A neighbor’s nephew played the fiddle—I only remember his name is Jonathan. I love hearing this song again after so many years! Geri and I sure sound like singing siblings!
* You Have My Heart— Geri wrote these words for her hubby Greg, and when I sing it, I think of my Bern. It’s one of those love songs that has a simple but true message. This song was also used on my Acoustic Café album as well as Live from Kegworth.
* Inspiration— I recorded this song instrumentally on the Lights Of Madrid album but here I sing Geri’s words. The words lent themselves beautifully to melody, which is why it fit well on Lights….
* There’s Peace—written around 1990. Geri sent me the sweetest card with her poem handwritten in it. I had to make music to it. We sang this song together in concert on a few occasions.
Hope you all find this album a blessing to you and yours—sincerely, Phil

On a Whim made me think of UB40’s “Red Red Wine,” so I started listening to that, and then I saw it was actually a Neil Diamond song, so then I started listening to his greatest hits. Quite a trip I’ve been on this morning. jssguitars
