**LOOKING GLASS**
In early 1993, I thought of doing a song in the style of some of my earlier songs of which I wrote first on the bass guitar, then build a song around that pattern. This method is fun because it creates a solid foundation, something definite. From there the chords and melody are all up for grabs. I decided to write lyrically about the eyes of our children, how they not only listen to us but watch us live our lives before them. To be a loving example, guiding them in the ways of Jesus, because they truly are the future and deserve our very best toward true development as citizens of both heaven and earth.
**CHILDREN**
This song puts across the appreciation and love I have toward our three children. I was setting out to write a new song to one of them, and thought, "Why not for all?" It contains the gospel in a nutshell.
**HOPE’S DESIRE**
My sister Geri and I wrote this song while she and one of her children were visiting us. You can hear her voice in the verses behind my lead vocal. The song is about pioneers of the faith who dedicated their lives to serving God, and our desire to recognize this and be among those who know the true treasure of his presence within.
**PEACE**
A Beautiful poem written by my sister Geri.
**SINGING SONGS TOGETHER**
This is Olivia's debut as a writer and singer. A Good half of the lyrics, she personally penned.
**SHE’S A DANCER**
I wrote this back when we first moved to Nashville for Alicia. It describes her and her sweet ways. She was named after my mother, Marguerite Alyce.
**FATHER DAUGHTER HARMONY**
Alicia is 13 on this recording and shows real promise as a singer and lyricist. It was a joy to sing with her on this song.
**ALL OUR WISHES**
Back in 1967, I wrote a song called "A Star In The Sky" and recorded it with my band, The Squires. I had an old Roberts tape machine that could play backwards without turning the tape over. I wrote a song based on the chords going the other direction. I called it "All My Wishes." Last year I recorded this song complete with backwards guitar and wrote about Bernadette's and my experience in losing our babies between 1975 and 1977. It speaks of the hope and anticipation of expecting parents to be...but then dreams broken with the result being loss. This song coincides with Bernadette's book, "A Deeper Shade Of Grace." You can hear Bernadette and the girl's voices on the song.
**I’LL BE LOVING YOU**
I wrote this song and recorded it the night before Mother's Day for Bernadette. Actually she wrote the first two verses to me, I the rest to her, but as a whole it goes both ways.
**FUNNY FACES**
One of those candid moments with Alicia when she was four. I'm glad to have found it amidst the piles of tape.
**SOUND CHECK**
A friend sent me a live excerpt from an afternoon concert I performed in Holland at the Flevo Festival in 1985. I remember the crowd. They had made me feel so welcomed throughout the concert that I spontaneously made up this bit of music.
**PSALM 139**
This recording is from around 1982 in Kansas City.
**ANOTHER GLORIOUS SUNSET**
Dave Spurr played keyboards and programmed the drum track. I played the Les Paul, the Zion guitar and bass. It's an old 4-track cassette recording. It sounds a bit rough, but has nice moments.
**MOVING CAMERA**
Another instrumental I found hidden somewhere in the box of tapes. Very reminiscent of the styles of guitar playing I was doing during that time.
**HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL**
Bryan Duncan and I did a concert in Florida and Matthew Ward showed up. I was turning 35 that day, hence the musical birthday song. Matthew "borrowed" the show and the next two sections demonstrate us having a bit of fun.
**DO LORD/TIME**
Both "Do Lord" and "Time" are very spontaneous. It's amazing how other people can get you to crank it up and pull out a few of the stops.
**THE MARIONETTE (WITH CALVIN MILLER)**
This is a story told by writer Calvin Miller. Michael Card asked me to do a musical acoustic background to this short story written and narrated by Calvin. Thank you Calvin for permission to use this.
**WE’LL MEET AGAIN**
One of my earliest songs, I was about to enter the 9th grade, in Youngstown Ohio. I thought it would be interesting for a listen to something that stretches back so far in time. I was just a little boy trying to be a little Beatle.

Wish I could have been there in 1974 but I was only 10 :). I loved listening, Great songs. Phil and Paul are playing and singing with sincere hearts to the Lord. And it sounds like they're having fun. sounds125
